BYD has begun large-scale deployment of megawatt flash charging stations across China, moving from strategy to execution in its push to expand EV charging infrastructure. Social media photos highlight the stations' distinctive cyan finish and T-shaped framework, which lets charging cables hang freely from the top to avoid ground contact and streamline operations, establishing the network as a signature brand feature.

In March 2025, BYD unveiled its groundbreaking 1-MW ultra-fast charger—the industry's first to reach megawatt levels—alongside the Super e-Platform, which incorporates blade batteries for quick charging, advanced motors, and silicon carbide chips. This system supports voltages up to 1,000 V and currents up to 1,000 A, providing 1,000 kW of power and establishing global standards.

The company plans to build more than 4,000 such stations, with no specific timeline. In June 2025, BYD partnered with Xiaoju Charging for 10,000 stations and with LongShine for 5,000, followed by collaborations with Teld and Star Charge to advance MW-level charging ecosystems. Recent reports point to a second-generation version capable of 2,100 kW output.

Deutsche Bank notes that BYD is developing a tiered supercharging network, including flagship, satellite, and community sites, with initial Gen2 installations appearing at highway access points and dealer lots. Internationally, BYD aims to establish about 3,000 fast-charging stations in Europe by the end of 2026. The bank forecasts BYD's vehicle deliveries rebounding in 2026, with a 6% year-over-year increase to 4.9 million units, driven largely by the second-generation megawatt charging technology that enhances product attractiveness.
