BYD Tops Brazil Vehicle Sales in April for First Time

BYD achieved a milestone by selling 14,911 vehicles in Brazil during April, surpassing Volkswagen by just 80 units. The company's affordable hybrids and electric vehicles (EVs), starting at R$122,800 (about €22,500), are broadening options for consumers seeking alternatives to traditional internal combustion engine models.

In March, BYD held the fifth position, trailing behind Fiat, General Motors, and Hyundai. Senior Vice President Alexandre Baldy shared with local media that EV ownership is now a reality for hundreds of thousands of Brazilians. BYD's portfolio features both fully electric and plug-in hybrid models.

BYD has ambitiously increased its annual sales target by 33.7% to 250,000 vehicles. In the first four months, it sold 52,322 units, achieving 20.9% of the goal. This marks significant growth, from only 260 units in 2022 to nearly 18,000 in 2023.
