Two years after its launch, the Tata Punch EV—a compact Indian electric crossover—has received an update that makes it more affordable than ever. The manufacturer has introduced Battery as a Service (BaaS), allowing buyers to purchase the vehicle and rent the battery separately. Instead of buying the priciest component outright, users pay a monthly fee or a per-kilometer rate—for the Punch EV, that's about 2.6 rupees (0.24 euros) per kilometer. Alongside this new option, the small electric vehicle now offers batteries up to 40 kWh (an increase of 5 kWh), boosting its maximum range to 355 km (up 75 km). It also supports fast charging up to 65 kW, reducing the time from 20% to 80% charge to 26 minutes. Power has received a slight increase, with the Long Range version reaching 127 hp for 0-100 km/h acceleration in 9 seconds. On the exterior, it features a new bumper and 16-inch wheels. The interior remains largely unchanged, and this model is still not available for sale in Europe.
