Geely's Volvo brand has launched the refreshed 2026 EX30 electric SUV in China, providing a more affordable entry price and a simplified lineup following recent safety issues. The model is now available in three variants with introductory pricing ranging from 159,800 yuan ($23,200) to 209,800 yuan ($30,400). This update comes after a global recall in February that affected over 40,000 EX30 units due to battery overheating risks and potential fires. The SUV initially launched in China in May of the previous year with a starting price of about $27,800.
The lineup features the new RWD Plus as the entry-level option, replacing the discontinued RWD Core trim. This base version includes several upgrades over its predecessor, such as the Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving system with lane-keeping, extra radar sensors for improved collision avoidance, an automated liftgate, a full panoramic roof, inductive phone charging, electrically adjustable front seats with driver memory, and a premium Harman Kardon audio system. Despite these additions, it retains the original 410 km CLTC-estimated driving range.
Volvo has also eliminated the RWD Long Range Plus along with the Core, leaving the RWD Long Range Ultra and AWD Performance Ultra as the unchanged top trims.
## Powertrain and Performance Details
The EX30's powertrains differ by trim to balance efficiency and performance. The rear-wheel-drive models feature a single electric motor producing 200 kW (268 horsepower). In the RWD Plus, it accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, offers a 410 km CLTC range, and supports a 10-80% DC fast charge in 26 minutes. The RWD Long Range Ultra extends the range to 590 km, reaches 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds, and takes 28 minutes for the same charge. For greater excitement, the AWD Performance Ultra combines dual motors for 315 kW (422 hp), achieving 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds with a 540 km range and 28-minute charging time.
